Indications
Norfloxacin is a broad spectrum quinolone compound active against Gram negative and Gram positive organisms causing poultry diseases such as : E. Coli (Colibacillus) , Salmonella, Pasteurella, Haemophilus, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas, Mycoplasmas, Chlamydias and Staphylococci (including S.aureus).
Warning & Precautions
Norfloxacin must be used cautiously in animals that may be prone to seizers, such as epileptics.

Dosage
• For active ingredient: 10 mg / kg body weight daily P.O for 3-5 consecutive days. • For whole product: 50 mg / kg body weight for 3-5 consecutive days ( 0.5 gm / liter of drinking water for 3-5 consecutive days). N.B. - Thirst the birds 2-3 hours before medication. - In hot climate where water consumption will be higher, dosage should be reduced by 25%. Withdrawal period: - For slaughtering : 14 days. - For eggs : This product is not used for poultry producing eggs for human consumption
Adverse Reactions
- High concentrations of Norfloxacin may cause CNS toxicity, especially in animals with renal failure, and at high doses, it may cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. - Norfloxacin may cause arthropathy in young animals.
Contra Indications
- This product is not used for poultry producing eggs for human consumption. - Avoid the use of Norfloxacin in young animals, because of the risk of cartilage injury.
Drug Interactions
- Do not mix Norfloxacin in solution or in vial with albumin, calcium, iron or zinc because of chelation may occur. - If used concurrently with theoplylline, Norfloxacin may increase the concentration of theophylline and inhibit its biotransformation, leading to prolonged and potentially toxic plasma levels. - Antacids are probably interfere with GI absorption of Norfloxacin.
